Rest
…
Dear Friend,
As I continue to think about the idea of ‘rest’, I’m thinking about all of us staying at home. What normally would be an exciting chance to rest and relax, has now become a time of worry and fear. Weeks and weekends blur together, and we are trying our best to keep things as normal as we can.
What a joke COVID-19 has tried to play on us! This silent killer, here to steal our peace of mind, kill our people and destroy our futures has caught us off guard and flattened the curve between the poor and the rich, effectively treating every one as equal! I mean!
The joke though, is on COVID-19 because;
Jesus, the God who knew and chose you and me before the world was even created, came down to Earth as a man those many years ago because he already knew what we would be going through right now and wanted to do something about it! Take a moment to digest that.
He didn’t want to be a passive bystander, but rather a doer. Actions speak louder than words and in my book, that’s what a real friend and father looks like! It’s why I call Him my God. There is literally no other god like Him. He’s a God of action. A God who practices what he preaches, and a God you and I can depend on. 🙌🏾
So, in the midst of this scrambled egg of a situation we’re all facing, what if you could be so confident in the divine goodness of God, that you can truly rest?
When you wake up every morning, make some tea, get comfortable and think back on your life. Remember the goodness He has showered on you. I know my list is innumerable.
When you get into bed at night, and the fears threaten to keep you awake, cry out to the merciful One, and I pray that you would be flooded with such incredible peace and grace, like a river overflowing its banks, until you become full of faith, love, rest and trust in Jesus, the Anointed One!
Be blessed,
Shalomie
